Review: SET @ POMO

We had an advanced birthday celebration for Cassandra. I've known her since sec 2, as a penpal through Teen or Teenage magazine. Can't believe our friendship manage to stay strong for so long!

We brought her to SET @ POMO. Found this superb restaurant when I was searching for newest restaurants in Singapore.

It looks more atas than I expected.
Table setting.

This is their menu. The one on their website isn't updated. The prices are so affordable for set meals! Set lunch comes in 5 courses at S$28.80, set dinner comes in 6 courses at S$38.80. Prices before GST. I doubt there's any other such affordable set meals with this excellent standard.

Chef Starter: Bacon and Mushroom Gratin with Toast. Thick and cheesey but not gelat. Very crispy, free-flow toast! This is standard, no other choices for starter dish.

My cold dish: Salmon. 24 hours marinated Norwegian Salmon with Dill and Homemade Sour Cream. I find the sour cream and salmon to be a great match! Those who doesn't like raw salmon shouldn't take this.

The Fiancé chose the Prawn Roll with pork floss and homemade teriyaki sauce as his cold dish. However I find the pork floss too overpowering.

MAJOR LOVE. Grilled King Oyster Mushroom with Truffle Foam. This standard dish is not in the lunch menu. It's because of this I recommend having the dinner set.

My Sauteed Mushroom Soup with Truffle. Thick, but not flavourful enough. Cannot taste the truffle.

However this Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Angelica Root, Wolfberries and Red Dates is good!

Cass chose this cold Avocado Soup. I didn't taste it because I'm not a fan of avocado, but she didn't really enjoy. Might be because she has a more Chinese taste haha.

Onto the super delish main course! Both of us got the Oven Roasted Australian Tenderloin Steak because I read reviews that it's really good. Didn't disappoint! Amazingly tender, didn't know that meat could be this tender. The grilled cherry tomatoes just bursts in the mouth. Damn good. Highly recommended.

Cass got the Oven Baked Cod Fish with Sauteed Onion and Radish with White Vinegar. I thought the cod fish was good too. But I would still go for the steak.

Cassandra's boyfriend had the Braised Baby Back Ribs with Homemade Chinese BBQ Sauce. Quite like this too, but because there's alot of fat in the pork, those who are health conscious shouldn't go for it.

Our desserts: Espresso Creme Brulee & Pistachio Panna Cotta. I thought Saveur's Pistachio Panna Cotta was nicer because it's sweeter.

Brownie with Ice Cream.
